Hebrews 6:12
That you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Introduction:
The key to answered prayer is faith and patience. All the promises of God in Christ are yeah and amen. 2 Cor. 1: 20
Faith and patience go hand in hand.
I. What you say is what you get. Mark 11:22-24
Have faith in God.
If you say to this mountain. (address the problem)
Believe in his heart and not doubt.
Not doubting requires patience.
He will have whatever he says.
II. Examples
A. Jairus and his dying daughter. Mark 5:22-42.
1. Jairus did not say anything contrary to what he declared.
2. Jesus told him: “do not be afraid, only believe.”
3. Jairus did not waiver in his faith confession and got what he desired.
B. David and His men in Ziklag. 1 Samuel 30:1- 19
1. The decision of David resulted to loss of the loved ones and properties of him and his people.
2. He was about to be stoned by his people but David strengthened himself in the Lord. Verse 6
3. David inquired of the Lord. Verse 8
4. David recovered all. Verse 19
III. You need faith and patience to obtain the promise of eternal life in heaven. Heb. 10:36-39
A. Drawing back or backsliding is a sign of impatience in faith.
B. We are of those who continue believing to the saving of the soul. Verse 39
1. By your patience possess your soul. Luke 21:19.
2. Blessed is the man who endures temptation for when he has been approved he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love Him. James 1: 12
